Travel: The Marvelous Grand Opening of 5-Star Atlantis Hotel, Dubai

Lavish, extravagant and breathtaking grand opening of The Atlantis Hotel in Dubai attended by some 2,000 VIP guests was held for four days while Kylie Minogue performed on the first day of the opening. How I wish that I will have the chance to be there! Neh, I am not a VIP, ok. And believe it or not, it gonna burn your account bank book with $35K per night not to mention that is the cheapest room you can get. The $1.5 billion mega resort with 1,539 rooms is the first resort to open on Dubai's man-made Palm Jumeirah island and threw a multi-million dollars on extravagant opening ceremony. Hmph...seems like they aren't feel even a bit affect by the global financial collapsed. 

Four Michelin-starred chefs masterminded the food with the help from 500 sous chefs and 1000 waiters.And it is said that the event is celebrated with a feast of 4000 lobsters! Jesus!!! The Atlantis has an aquarium big enough for 65,000 fish and a whale shark. A tank affords guests the chance to swim with a dolphin. Two suites, occupied last night by Theron and Lohan, stretch over three floors, with views directly into the aquarium. Staff said since the hotel began business on September 24, it had enjoyed 80% capacity.

Life: I Have Complicated Life or I Make It Complicated?

I have been trapped in this dilemma for too long that I could not even remember when it first started. Many people advise me while I am in a relationship, enjoy the joyous, precious and memorable moment together. Yes, it is true. I could never deny that but love is love. We need to do reality check from time to time. Tonnes of worries clouded my mind when I was thinking to commit myself in a relationship. Friends told me I think too much, colleagues said that just go with the flow, my heart tells me please come back to reality, and, and, and....I am just too confused. Honestly, my thoughts is rather orthodox and so unconventional. For me, I love being fed than to fed. 

 If I planned to go on a long journey with this guy, I have to consider this:

- his earnings is lesser than mine for now. Yes, for now it's okay but will the figure in the pay check will not increase much or that's it. That's his limitations. Without a preferred education level these days is a disadvantage and of course, your pay will never be good.

- i am pursuing my master's degree in a few months time and I hope (crossing my fingers) to graduate with MBA soon and he is only a high school graduate. Obviously, there is going to be gaps between us - communication, understanding, perception, knowledge, maturity, etc. The question is, will the relationship survive or it will just be another history?

- my parents will never wanted to accept him if his qualification is so much lower than mine. My cousin's wife left him because they weren't level headed. His wife has a PhD whereas he himself only has a basic degree. At times, his wife thinks he does not fathom what she meant and he never gets her right when it comes to understanding. 

Do I abandon this relationship or do I foresee everything and proceed? 

Will my future be better without him or removing him out from the picture is a better start? 

  

I don't want a househusband in the future, definitely. I want him to be the man of the house and is wise enough to make his own decisions. 

Hmph....I make my life complicated isn't it?

Inspirational: A Story of A 2 Legged Dog Named Faith

A heart wrenching and yet inspirational true story about a dog named Faith. The dog was brought to this world on Christmas Eve on 2002 but something went amiss. He was born with only 3 legs with 2 healthy hind legs and one abnormal front leg. Later, the abnormal front leg has been amputated and Faith has only two hind legs left. Even his mother disowned him.

Faith first owner was contemplating whether to put him under euthanasia thinking Faith will not be able to survive with only two legs. At this point of time, Faith's current owner, Jude Stringfellow, met him and wanted to take care of him. She was determined and wanted to teach the dog to walk by himself with his two legs. And named him "Faith".

As a good start, Jude placed Faith on a surfing board to help him to feel the movement and later she taught him to balance and jump on his hind legs. She used peanut butter to lure and reward him for Faith to stand up and jump around. Other dogs, ironically, did the same by encouraging him to stand on his hind legs. In a short 6 months, Faith is able to balance and jump about on his 2 legs. 

After another training in the snow, Faith is now able to walk around on his 2 legs. Faith loves to walk around and he just attracts many people whenever he goes. Similar to an international star, Faith has publicly appeared on the TVs and newspaper. 

 

There  is even one book entitled 'With a little faith' being published   about him. He was even considered to appear  in one of  Harry Potter movies.

His  present owner Jude Stringfellew has  given up her teaching post  and plans to take him around  the world to  preach that even without a perfect body, one can have  a perfect soul'.

In life there are always undesirable  things. Perhaps one will feel better if one changes the point of  view from another direction. 

I hope this message  will bring fresh  new ways of thinking to everyone and that everyone can appreciate  and  be thankful for  each beautiful day that follows.

Faith is the continual demonstration of the Strength of Life.

A mother and her son were charged Friday in the death of the woman's 23-year-old mentally disabled daughter who investigators said was repeatedly raped, beaten and scalded and had her face pushed into faeces.

An Erie County grand jury returned a multi-count indictment against 51-year-old Eva Cummings and her 31-year-old son, Luke Wright, both of North Collins outside Buffalo, in a case that was described by Sheriff's Capt. Ronald Kenyon as "horrendous" and "beyond description."

Cummings was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly suffocating Laura Cummings in their home Jan. 21 following years of abuse. Both mother and son face additional charges including predatory sexual assault, unlawful imprisonment as a hate crime and endangering a disabled person's welfare.

Both have been held without bail since their arrests Jan. 30. Arraignment in Erie County Court was scheduled for Monday.

Laura Cummings was repeatedly tied to a chair, all night at times, for the last two years and often with a hood over her head, according to the indictment. She was sodomized with a broomstick, forced to put her face in her own feces, repeatedly beaten and was scalded with water at least twice before she died, the investigation found.

Wright also is charged with several sex offenses, including raping his half-sister, District Attorney Frank Sedita's office said.

Following their arrests, Kenyon said investigators had found evidence of physical and mental abuse going back to 1995 and that the abuse had escalated in the months before her death. The victim's 22-year-old brother told reporters he had been concerned about his sister's treatment and had called county social services agencies from his Air Force base in North Carolina in an unsuccessful attempt to get her removed from the home.

County officials have said confidentiality rules prevent them from discussing individual cases.

"This is a horrifically sad case from many aspects," said Wright's attorney, John Nuchereno, who said Wright himself was "a victim of lifelong abuse."

"There was abuse in that household that had been known for years and years by many, many people and Luke was an unfortunate victim, as was his sister," the attorney said. He described Wright as marginally functional, though more advanced than Laura Cummings, who has been described as having the mental capacity of a preteen. Wright had held jobs mucking stalls or helping plow, Nuchereno said.

Cummings' attorney, Joseph Terranova, declined Friday to comment on the indictment because he had not yet seen it.

If convicted, Cummings faces a sentence of 83 years to life in prison. Her son faces a sentence of 133 years to life.
